Temporomandibular joint
The entire horses body relies on the proper function of the TMJ. Every muscle group can be compromised by the improper function of this joint. The muscles connecting this joint are the strongest in the horse’s body and are closely connected to the CranioSacral (POLL). The Poll is directly connected to every muscle group in the horse’s body.
As you know the horse is constantly grazing and or eating all day long therefore the TMJ is subject to perhaps 100,000 compressions per day.
This problem has been undetected and or overlooked by many of the Equine trainers and professionals. I have been in this business for over 50 years and never heard of it until I met a Veterinarian Dr. Heather Mack DVM a couple of months ago in Idaho. Dr. Mack introduced me to the problems that can be created in the horse’s body when the TMJ’s are painful due to improper floating of the teeth. Always have the teeth checked and hand floated by a competent dental practitioner. It is our opinion that this is one of the main causes of the problem.
When you have a horse that is acting in an erratic manner and you cannot find out why, check the TMJ’s. If there is pain there that may be the problem and must be treated to repair the joint and eliminate the pain. The Equi-Stim Leg Saver will eliminate the pain and have your horse TMJ’s back in balance with one easy treatment. It usually takes one or two treatments with our new LEG SAVER TMJ wrap and the TING POINT THERAPY.
There is a tremendous article on this topic in the www.NaturalHorse.com (Volume 4, Issue 6, Article 10). The article is written by Maureen Rogers. You can Google (Equine CranioSacral Workshops) or (EQUINE TMJ) to find the article. |
